Carrickfergus Castle is one of the best preserved medieval structures in Northern Ireland. Due to the military impenetrability of this castle, the town of Carrickfergus long thrived even when surrounding villages suffered defeats, and that strength endures today. The castle sits on the edge of the harbour and on those perfect glassy water days, casts an impressive reflection making for quite the view.
