The shoreline is just a five minute stroll from the front door of this property * so mussel picking at low tide is a firm favourite with guests. There are many other beautiful walks available on the doorstep - including the internationally renowned Westport to Achill Island 'Great Western Greenway' walking and cycle trail, a Blue Flag beach, a nine-hole golf links, pier fishing and Ballycroy National Park.
The nearby seaside village of Mulranny, so long a hidden gem on County Mayo's Atlantic coastline, received the EDEN European Destination of Excellence Award in 2011.
The 'Gourmet Greenway' leads you to a host of artisan food producers close by while the excellent Newfield Inn gastro pub/restaurant (with WiFi), just 400 metres from the house, is perfect for those lazy days when you don't want to cook at home.
Facilities: Mulranny Park Hotel and Spa has excellent pool and gym facilities available for non-residents. Mulranny Golf Links (9 hole course) is three kilometres away. Sea fishing enthusiasts use Mulranny Pier while daily hire boats are available for deep-sea anglers. Top class freshwater game fishing for salmon and sea trout is available on the Newport river by licence.
Activities: Water sports such as surfing, dingy sailing, sea-kayaking, wind-surfing, kite surfing are all well catered for at Keel Bay on nearby Achill Island. Pony-trekking is also on offer from a range of local stables. The Ceide Fields, Killala * a notable 5,000 year old Neolithic settlement and national monument is 60 Kms distant.

Westport and Castlebar are served by all the major multiples and cater for almost every shopping need. Cineplexes, swimming pools and public libraries are also located in both these towns.
