This is excellent walking and cycling country with many pathways and by-roads devoid of traffic, and the Western Greenway cycle route only 10 miles away at Mulranny.
Historic Westport is only around 1 hour's drive away and makes a good destination for a day trip around the shores of Clew Bay.
For the experienced mountaineer, the Bangor Trail is worth consideration. Fishing, angling, boating or sailing is only a few hundred yards away.
