Ballinamuck village has two local pubs that serve food and hold traditional Irish music sessions, there are also shops and a minimarket, hairdressers and a childrens playground.
Arvagh is a town six miles away in Co. Cavan. There is a hotel with bar and restaurant, numerous pubs, a playround, various shops, a post office, three chemists and a Bank of Ireland. There are numerous lakes in the area for fishing and water activities. There is a football pitch, library and bus services to Longford and Cavan.
Longford is a large town with many shops, large supermarkets such as Tesco, Iceland and Lidl and a wide variety of pubs and restaurants to enjoy. There are a couple of pharmacies, a dentist, a doctors, a library, a cinema, a swimming pool and banks including Bank of Ireland and Permanent TSB.
~ Annagh Lough is stocked exclusively with rainbow trout for fishing. The area is recognised as a Special Area of Conservation with a boat jetty to the South and a bathing area to the North.
~ Ballinamuck Bog Walks is a 5km national loop walk through gravel and grassy tracks. It is a working bog route and turf cutting can be seen on sections of the trail.
~ Ballinamuck Visitors Centre is located in the historic former Royal Irish Constabulary Barracks. Offering a fascinating and lively exhibition of the fateful events of the Battle of Ballinamuck in 1798.
~ Longford Cinema, Megabowl, Karting and Paintballing make for a fun-filled afternoon with the kids in the neaby county town.
~ Co. Longford Golf Club is an 18-hole course founded in 1894. Trolley and buggy hire are available and the pro shop is fully stocked. There is an excellent bar with catering available in the clubhouse and the course is open to visitors.
