This traditional thatch cottage is nestled in the foothills of the Slieve Bloom Mountains, 3 miles from Mountrath, 5 miles from the heritage town of Abbeyleix and within 1 hour of Dublin city. The property has been lovingly restored yet retains original features including a traditional Irish fireplace in the lounge, exposed oak beams, traditional oak dresser and low doors (not of standard height) which blend in with all modern conveniences which include free Wifi internet access. It really has the WOW factor, but is unsuitable for children under 12 due to the pond and well in the garden.

There is a pond and old feature well in the garden so the cottage is not suitable for children under the age of 12 years old.
The laneway leading up to the property is bumpy so care is needed driving.

Laois in an interesting county with a variety of attractions. Explore the many walking trails of the Slieve Bloom Mountains.
Try out American style horse riding in Timahoe or just stroll around the 12th Century Round Tower. Ramble across the ruins of the 12th Century stronghold, the Rock of Dunamase and take in the breath taking views.
Visit the gardens of Stradbally Hall, seat of the Cosby family and take a ride on the narrow gauge steam train through the grounds (Bank Holiday weekends). Also hosts to the Electric Picnic and the Stradbally Steam Rally. Not to be missed are the splendid House and Gardens at Emo Court designed by James Gandon in 1790.
Explore the fascinating Dunmore caves and hear the sad tale of the Viking raid. Don't forget to relax, have a pint and soak up the atmosphere in Morrissey's of Abbeyleix, voted one of Ireland's top 10 pubs!

The cottage is ideally located for exploring the Slieve Bloom Mountains, with it's unique and beautiful surroundings.
