Portmagee is a picturesque fishing village with a food store, a book shop, a cafe, two restaurants and a bar.
Waterville is a larger village with a small handful of shops, a Centra supermarket, a butchers, a pharmacy, two cafes and six bars and restaurants.
~ Skellig Boat Trips have two types of tours going to both Skellig Michael and the Small Skelligs. Visit the 6th Century monastic settlement on Skellig Islands; one of only two world heritage sites in Ireland. The trips are around 45 minutes with 2 and a half hours visiting time on the islands.
~ Kerry Cliffs and Coffee Shop offer spectacular views over Skellig Islands and Puffin Island. Food and refreshments are served all day in the indoor-outdoor coffee shop boasting the amazing views of the surrounding areas.
~ Portmagee Farmer's Markets and held every Wednesday in the summer months and has a range of homemade food, cheeses, fruit and vegetables and much more!
~ Valentia Island is just over the Maurice O'Neill Memorial Bridge from Portmagee so is very easily accessible. There is much to do on the island such as exploring the Slate Quarry, the Lighthouse, Cromwell Fort, Geokaun Mountain and much more!
~ Waterville Golf Links in the nearest course. It is rated amongst the top five courses in Ireland and is an 18-hole course. Visitors are welcome and green fees can be found online.
