Killorglin town has a wide variety of shops, pubs and restaurants including large supermarkets such as Aldi. There are two banks, three pharmacies and a post office.
Killarney is less than thirty minutes' drive and offers all of the above and more. The nearest community hospital is here.

- The River Laune is renowned for salmon and trout fishing, beautiful walks and also has an active rowing club. The Laune Salmon and Trout Anglers Association help visitors to the area and can provide excellent information and permits.
- The Kerry Way Walking Trail is over 200km starting and ending in nearby Killarney. It is one of the longest signposted trails in Ireland and is broken down in to nine different stages, passing through rural and breathtaking countryside.
- Cappanalea Outdoor Education Centre at Caragh Lake provides people of all abilities from seven years old, a wide range of adventure sports and activities with qualified instructors. Activities include kayaking, canoeing, mountaineering, sailing, windsurfing and more.
