Set high on the hillside, it enjoys commanding views of the lakes and mountains and is a great base for exploring the Beara Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry. Guided walking tours can be organised in Kenmare which takes in the surrounding countryside and mountains. The Healy Pass, sub-tropical gardens at Dereen House and Gleninchaquin, Seafari Boat trips, Iveragh Peninsula, Ring of Kerry, Beara Peninsula and Killarney famed for its lake and National Park all make for great day trips.
