Ballinasloe is a lively town with a library, swimming pool and rich equestrian heritage offering horse and pony-riding facilities, stables and regular show jumping. The River Suck is famous for coarse fishing and the local museum houses a vintage and classic cars exhibition.

Ahascragh is a small village 45 miles east of Galway City. The village has 5 pubs, 2 convenience stores, a post office and butchers.
Ballinasloe, 7 miles south, has a library, swimming pool, Garda station, general hospital, pharmacy and petrol station. In addition to this there are a number of supermarkets such as Tesco, Lidl, Aldi and SuperValu, an off-license and an adundance of pubs and restaurants.

Knock Airport is just over an hours drive from the property and Dublin Ferry Port just under 2 hours.
Things to do in the area -
~ The fishing season on the Bunowen River is between March and September. Species in the river include Wild Brown Trout. Anglers require a fishing permit, these can be purchased locally.
~ Galway Races are world famous and are held annually in July/August.
~ Ballinasloe Horse Fair is held annualy in October. It is one of Europe's oldest and largest Horse Fairs, dating back to the 18th century. This annual event attracts up to 80,000 visitors from all over the world, with many returning to the town year after year. This festival is one of the most important social and economic events in the life of the town. Horse and pony riding, show jumping and other equestrian activities take place all year round.
