The medieval walls around Athenry are among the most complete and best preserved in Ireland, along with some of the original towers and the original North Gate. This apartment is a great touring base for the Galway Bay and the vibrant Galway City and ideal for those wishing to explore further afield on the Wild Atlantic Way with day trips to Co. Clare or Co. Mayo.

Athenry is a great town for a visit as it has a vast amount of historical structures, from its castle, medieval church, Dominican Abbey, not to mention it has the largest Norman town wall still intact in Ireland which was built in 1211. It also has a number of small bars and restaurants, one of which is a craft beer pub which is situated very near the apartment, it serves a variety of beers and stouts from small breweries around Ireland and a variety of European beers which all taste great.
Salthill Promenade, 16 miles away, offers views of the nearby harbour city of Galway and the Aran Islands. The 2km-long seaside promenade running from the edge of the city along Salthill. Local tradition dictates 'kicking the wall' across from the diving boards.
Leisureland in Salthill is a leisure facility for all the family. Inside there are 3 pools with a 65m water slide. There is also a learning pool and then the main 25m swimming pool with inflatable obstacle course during peak times. Outside there is crazy golf and during the summer a wide variety of amusement rides.
Galway provides a unique shopping experience with a wide range of shops. As well as the highstreet shops, there is an interesting variety of specialist shops. At Galway's famous bustling market trading in Church lane by St Nicholas' Church You will find hundreds of stalls selling fresh produce and locally produced crafts. Open on Saturday, there's a great variety of food available.
The waters in Galway Bay are clean with great visibility which makes for safe diving for those with all levels of experience and is a popular location for windsurfing, surfing and kayaking enthusiasts.
Loughwell Farm Park is located in Moycullen, about 8km from Galway City and is the ideal place for a day out for kids. There is a host of animals to pet such as pigs, ponies, cows, sheep, alpacas, goats, chickens, donkeys, rabbits, reindeer and much more
