Nearby is Murlough Nature Reserve, a National Trust site, with good access to Murlough beach. It is also close to the Mourne Mountains, Tyrella beach, the historic town of Downpatrick and small local fishing villages such as Ardglass and Strangford. The Royal County Down Golf Club in Newcastle has two 18-hole golf courses.

Newcastle is a small seaside town with a variety of independent shops, pubs, restaurants, cafes and supermarkets including Tesco and Lidl. There is also a library, amusements, pharmacies, a post office and much more along the Central Promenade.
~ This holiday home is very near to Murlough Nature Reserve (a National Trust site), with good access to Murlough beach. It is also close to the Mourne Mountains, Tyrella beach, the historic town of Downpatrick and many small local fishing villages such as Ardglass and Strangford. Also 6 miles from Castlewellan village and several forest parks (Castlewellan, Tollymore and Donard Parks).
~ Murlough National Nature Reserve is a 6000 year old sand dune system managed by the National Trust. It is an excellent area for walking and bird watching, set on the edge of Dundrum Bay and the Mourne Mountains.
~ Dundrum Castle is situated just above the village and was built around the 13th Century.
~ Royal County Down Golf Club in Newcastle has two 18-hole courses and the Championship Links course; Annesley Links. Visitors are welcome and green fees can be found online.
