McMorris party, December 2016
We wanted to stay in Kilkee, but couldn't find a suitable location. This peaceful, rural location, outside Doonbeg, proved a far nicer option in the end. It was a great base, well positioned for travelling to a host of places of interest, ranging from The Burren to Bunratty and Arans to Ennis. We felt the kitchen looked a bit 'tired' initially, but got over that quickly, and came to love the house. We breakfasted in it all but one of the seven mornings, and cooked evening meals on four occasions, finding it perfecty adequate. The living room, with its wood-burning stove, was very cosy. The bedrooms and beds, with their orthopedic mattresses, were superb. It provided one of the best escapes from the busy humdrum that we've enjoyed in a long time. Mr Breen was very helpful. I'd venture to say that the house - with its 3 bedrooms - was a bit underpriced, and can only speculate that that may reflect local availability competing in that price category. (I've never had occasion to say that a place was underpriced before!) More to the point, though, I'd have liked to pay for everything up front, and not to have the electric and heating metered and paid at the end. That last point is a minor detail, of course. We'd readily go back to it, and would heartily recommend it.
