A couple's escape from reality, this unique stone built holiday cottage is located on Cape Clear Island, 8 miles from the mainland of Ireland off the west coast of County Cork. Access is via a ferry (EUR18 per adult) on foot as only residents cars are permitted on the island. The owner will arange transport from the ferry to the cottage. Delightful inside, relax and enjoy the beautiful sunrises to the east and equally pleasing sunsets to the west as the landscape and seascapes never fail to captivate all year round. Internet is via a dongle provided. No TV. A perfect getaway!

Cape Clear Island is accessible via ferry from the mainland (Baltimore, Co. Cork) which is approximately EUR18 for a return ticket; the Island is not accessible via car. There is a free car park beside the ferry port on the mainland. The owner can collect guests from the ferry port once arrived or alternatively there is a mini bus service which runs to the property for EUR2 per trip. The Island is only 3 miles long by 1 mile wide and is home to only 124 people.
There are a selection of restaurants and pubs on the island - Sean Rua's restaurant, Cotters bar and restaurant, Club Chleire, community bar for a drink, caint, ceol and meet the local people. Live music is organised most weekends during the summer season and at bank holiday weekends. All of these are situated at the North Harbour. Please note that the shops, bar and restauant may not always be open.
The owner is happy to help with the delivery of groceries as the shops on the island are not always open.
~ Cape Clear's mild climate makes it a great location to enjoy birdwatching, with some regularly-spotted species including guillemots, cormorants and storm petrels. There is also the chance to see whales, leatherback turtles, dolphins and even basking sharks * all are seen in the waters surrounding the island every year.
~ Walking and hiking trails boast a rich archaeology heritage.
~ Kayaking, snorkelling and archery in the South Harbour.
~ Sea and rock fishing.
~ Ferry trips to harbours and towns on the mainland.
~ Cape Clear Island Museum, open June- Septemeber, is home to several hundred artefacts of island maritime and folklife interest.
~ Boat trips to the famous Fastnet Lighthouse, known as Ireland's Teardrop as it was the last part of Ireland seen by thousands of Irish emigrants as they sailed away to the New World.
~Bus Tour of the island runs every hour from noon. Adults EUR5.00 Children EUR2.50.
