Kilkee is situated in County Clare on the West Coast of Ireland. It is situated on Moore Bay, a bay of horse-show shape. The splendid reef known as Duggerna Rocks guards the entrance to this bay. There are many fine seafood restaurants and lively pubs as well as supermarkets and great bakeries. During the summer, the town is alive with tourists, taking in the beautiful cliff scenery and fabulous mile long beach.
There are many golf courses throughout the west coast of Clare, such as; Kilkee Golf Club, Kilrush Golf Club, Lahinch Golf Club and of course Doonbeg Golf Course, home of the new Greg Norman golf links course.
Birdwatchers from near and far flock to Clare which has an international reputation for the numbers of rare species that pass through these parts. Expect excellent views of breeding seabirds such as kittiwakes, puffins, razorbills, fulmars and guillemots all along the cliffs of the west coast.
The best place for birdwatching in Clare are the Bridges of Ross on Loop Head Peninsula.
The Shannon estuary is the longest sheltered, naturally deep estuary in the country - a playground for a number of bottleneck dolphins. These can be observed from various places along the coast as on Dolphin watching tours which depart from the Kilrush Marina and from Carrigaholt harbour (only 3 miles from the property).
Fishing is another major attraction in West Clare. From river fishing in the Doonbeg River, sea angling off the Atlantic Coast to course fishing on the River Shannon, there are plenty of great locations to cast a rod. About a mile from the back of the property through the owner's land you will arrive at the fabulous cliff scenery where many fisherman are seen fishing from the rocks regularly.
Throughout the year you will always find a cosy pub with ceol and craic inside. There are many great traditional musicians throughout Clare from Miltown Malbay to the Loop Head Peninsula.
