Bunratty Castle In County Clare, Western Ireland

Bunratty Castle was built in 1425 and is one of Ireland's most popular castles, with origins dating back to Viking times. It has been restored to its full glory and houses an impressive collection of medieval furniture. Its biggest attractions are the Great Hall with timbered roof and tapestries, the 'murder holes' through which enemies were drenched in boiling oil, and the Banqueting Hall - which is still used today for the popular medieval banquets.
