Galway city and it's surrounding area are woven with biking and hiking trails taking you through remote villages, cattle grazing pastures, bogs and offers some of the best white sandy beaches in the country. Galway is one of the least densely populated counties giving a large abundance of wildlife. As well as being rich in flora and fauna many cultural sites in the area including churches and castles, Norman towers and oyster beds.

Galway is a large county divided into two large contrasting regions by the expanse of Lough Corrib, to the west, lying between the lake and the Atlantic, is Connemara.
