The local pubs/restaurants are welcoming and a very good standard and also family friendly. 'The Strand Tavern' and 'Roche's' are both just a few minutes walk from the house. There is often entertainment on in both pubs, or if you just want to see 'the match' on a Saturday afternoon, there's no better place. There are also a couple of Cafe’s in the village. For a more formal restaurant you have Squigl’s in the village. For more gourmet tastes, there are a number of other high quality restaurants within 5km e.g. Aldridge Lodge and award winning restaurant Dunbrody Country House Hotel.

16th Century Duncannon Fort is the local historical interest and is open to visitors from June to September daily. It has a Maritime Museum, Cockleshell Art Gallery, a small craft shop and a coffee shop.

Kite-surfing lessons and equipment are available from Duncannon Beach. Day trips are available out to sea, for fishing or whale-watching off Hook Head.

Festivals in the area
DUNCANNON SAND SCULPTING FESTIVAL
This annual event is being held from 10th-12th August 2012. International artists sculpt from sand on Duncannon beach and lots of activities over three days, including sand-castle competitions, tug-o-war, kiddies’ painting wall, and other activities. First night always opens with a great Beach Party and Fireworks.
DUNCANNON FORT ANNUAL MILITARY VEHICLE RE-ENACTMENT - June 2nd-3rd 2012
Re-enactors from the middle ages through to the present times will be in attendance along with military vehicles from a number of different eras.
Many different re-enactments will take place: medieval archers & foot soldiers will put on a show; Redcoats and united Irishmen will re-live their period; The American War of Independence, Great War, Irish troops of the London Irish Rifles and The WW2 German Army of Battle Group South will all be represented.
Irish troops of the period 1935-41 will be on hand to keep an eye out for any sign of invasion, which may present itself in the form of troops from the London Irish Rifles!
