The Ring of Kerry can be done in a day by car or bus, but the more time you take the more you'll enjoy it. Getting off the beaten tourist track is well worth it. The Ballaghbeama Pass cuts through the Iveragh Peninsula's centre with spectacular views and remarkably little traffic. Anticlockwise is the supposedly "right" way to go round the ring but in high season it's probably worth doing it in the "wrong" direction.
