From Ballina, drive west to the Ceide Fields via Killala (follow R314 and signs for the Ceide Fields) and this is known as The North Coast Drive. This drive takes you along North Mayo's amazing coastline and past picturesque Killala with its massive beach. En route you'll see Dun Briste--an impressive sea stack off Downpatrick Head which sits like a grass topped pillar rising out of the sea. This Coastal drive will take you to one of Mayo's premier attractions, the Ceide Fields. From the property, a 5 minute drive will bring you to the beach and a further 5 minutes, close to Downpatrick Head. The surrounding area of Ballycastle is rich with archaeological treasures, dating from the Neolithic period. There are over 30 court-tombs alone in this area, including two very interesting ones in Ballyglass town land. The town of Ballycastle is home to an Arts Foundation which attracts artists of international acclaim whose work can be viewed in the gallery. A bakery and tea room, and traditional shop-pub, complete the charm of this unspoilt village. There is traditional music in some of the pubs. As well as cliff walks in the area the Western way is nearby. There is horse riding locally in the village and there are Championship Golf courses at Enniscrone and Carne / Belmullet and a lovely parkland course all within 40 minutes drive. Sea fishing locally, and river fishing in Ballina in the river Moy regarded as one of the best salmon fishing rivers in Europe, approx 15 miles away. Diving and Surfing nearby
