A traditional unspoilt harbour town by the river Fertha and situated at the foot of Beentee Mountain, just 40 minutes from Farranfore Airport on the N70. Cahersiveen developed into a small town in the 1800s from the salting of Atlantic fish and to this day has strong links with the sea.
Cahersiveen boasts an excellent harbour and a superb 94-berth marina just 10 minutes from open sea, offering sailing, trout and salmon fishing, deep-sea diving, yacht chartering, river trips, and deep-sea angling. Surrounded by small inlets and white sandy beaches Cahersiveen is ideal for relaxing or exploring the many islands and hidden coves or for hill walking along the Kerry Way.
Resident artists run courses locally and there are regular exhibitions for the art lover, and abundant art and craft shops and galleries. Dining is delightful in the local restaurants specialising in locally caught seafood and organic produce.
