Situated just outside the seaside village of Portsalon on the Fanad peninsula in North Donegal. On an elevated site, it offers wonderful views over the countryside towards the beach. The living area is on the first floor and has been decorated to a very high standard. The bedrooms are all on the ground floor. The beach in Portsalon has been voted the second most beautiful in the world by the Observer newspaper. There are excellent traditional pubs, stunning walks and a world renowned golf course.

If you are looking for somewhere for a quiet, carefree holiday, this is the place. The local pub will serve you an excellent pint of Guinness by a peat fire, where you can also buy your bread and milk and be sent on your way with the best fish and chips in North Donegal.

Portsalon Beach was voted by the British newspaper The Observer the second most beautiful beach in the world. It is over a mile long, has beautiful white sand and is mostly empty by normal standards.

Portsalon Golf Club is an 18 hole par 69 links course, and has been around since 1891. It is one of the oldest golf courses in Ireland, is beautifully designed in the true tradition of the ‘out and in’ links course. It is open to non-members but does not offer club hire. It is well worth bringing your own clubs. Even if you do not play the game, the course runs along the edge of the beach and offers a lovely walk with fantastic views.

Fanad Lighthouse is Fanad's proudest possession. It is located at Fanad Head, the second most northerly point in Fanad. It is an extremely majestic site, through both it's cliff location and it's intricate architecture
The Harry Blaney Bridge is a newly constructed attraction which links the communities of Fanad and Carrigart and is a truly mind-blowing site. It is well-worth a visit, and if you ever feel that you need a change from Fanad (unlikely!) then you can simply cross the bridge and travel to Carrigart
The Great Arch is one of the most undiscovered attractions in Fanad. As you can see it is a really beautiful site and it would be a shame to leave Fanad without seeing it. While it may be located in a slightly difficult to navigate area, in Pollaid near Fanad Head, if you ask some of the many friendly locals they'll be sure to help you to find it!!
Fanad's beaches are among the most beautiful in all of Ireland. Particularly Ballymastocker Beach which was voted as the second most beautiful beach in the whole world!! Meadows Trout Fishery: Are you a keen fisher? or a complete beginner? Regardless come along and enjoy a day out at the Meadows Trout Fishery, Cloughfin, Rossnakill. It has a rainbow trout fishery to suit all anglers, but specialises in families and younger groups.
Walking/Hillwalking: Fanad is well-known for its scenic, peaceful walks along the coast of Lough Swilly. It's rugged, hillside landscape provides a perfect atmosphere to relax and unwind. There's a wide variety of walks to suit everyone, both experienced and less experienced.
Birdwatching: The Fanad coastline is home to one of the rarest species of European bird: Columbia Livia, commonly known as the European Rock Dove which is the ancient ancestor of the modern day racing pigeon.
The Fanad Scenic Drive: The Fanad Peninsula scenic tour is a 72km circuit of the area, which is well sign-posted and a splendid drive. As the road rises around Knockalla Mountain enjoy the breathtaking views across Lough Swilly. Below you is Ballmastocker Bay bedecked with a trilogy of golden beaches and punctuated by fingers of grassy dunes. Portsalon lies across the bay.

Kerrykeel:
situated on the shores of Mulroy Bay. The village has some fine pubs and restaurants and is the gateway to the Fanad Peninsula. The hillsides surrounding the village are ideal for walking. Not far away is the impressive Gortnavern Dolmen, a Celtic burial landmark. Curlew Café & Crafts: Quaint little café located in Kerrykeel. Experience some of the typical delicacies of the Fanad area especially home cooking and baking.

Rathmullan (Ráth Maoláin, meaning "Maoláin's ringfort") has a rich history. There are the ruins of a medieval Carmelite Friory which was built by Eoghan Rua MacSweeney in 1516. In 1607, Rathmullan was also said to have seen the last of the Gaelic Order, most notably the Ó Neills, during the Flight of the Earls to the continent. In 1617 the Friary was occupied by the Protestant Bishop of Raphoe, The Rt. Rev. Dr. Andrew Knox, who turned it into a stronghold during the colonisation of Donegal. In the 18th century Rathmullan was the location of the capture of Wolfe Tone, a leader of the 1798 Rising. In the 19th century there was an English battery situated near the pier to defend Lough Swilly from a possible invasion of France during the Napoleonic Wars. This battery still stands and today serves as a heritage centre. The sea is a large part of the lives of the people of Rathmullan and Lough Swilly Deep Sea Fishing Festival is held in June.

Milford
Milford is an impressive tourist area located on the banks of the awe-inspiring Mulroy Bay in North Donegal. It is well-known for it's walks, for being a market town and for hosting a large number of historical antiquities. Mulroy Bay is used for aquaculture, particularly salmon and mussel farming and is important for scallop spat collection. Woodquarter: Located in Bunlin, Milford. Woodquarter is the site of a ringfort and has a very interesting nature walk and is ideal for a picnic. Lough Fern: Located in Gortmacall, Milford. The first signs of human settlement in the Milford Area can be found in the area surrounding Lough Fern. There is evidence of a court tomb overlooking the Lough that dates back to 4000BC. There is a crannog in the middle of the Lough dating back to the Iron Age. There are also standing stones to be found on the shores of the Lough. The Lough has always been known for it's fishing. In 1959 a local angler caught a twenty five and a half pound salmon in the Lough. The Lagg Chapel: Located in Loughnakey, Milford. This church was built in 1829 at a cost of £300. It was later demolished in the 1960's to make way for a new church in the town but was renovated in 1984 as part of a Fás Scheme. It is full of history, is beautifully constructed and hosts some exquisite architectural features. Colmcille's Trail: Located in Garrygort, Milford. This pleasant walk takes you along the shores of Lough Colmcille.

Ramelton
Is a Bord Failte designated heritage town. The Old Warehouses provided the backdrop to the very successful TV series ‘The hanging Gale’ about the Great Hunger. The Lennon Festival takes place in July each year. Started in 1970 it includes a variety of events such as Queen of Lennon, live music and singing throughout all venues and pubs, carnival parade etc. At the Town Hall country market each Saturday people from the area offer a wide variety of homemade/grown produce. The river Lennon provides some great fishing and the Town Park offers a tranquil place to relax and watch the mouth of the river flow into Lough Swilly.
Letterkenny
takes its name from the Irish " Leitirceanainn " - meaning the "Hillside of the O'Cannons" - the O'Cannons being the last of the ancient chieftains of Tir Conaill. It is the closest large town to Portsalon and has many attractions including, several childrens indoor play centres, multi screen cinema, tin pin bowling, crazy golf, paintballing. And a large variety of pubs and night clubs. You could also check out The county Museum, corn and flax mills, and Colmcille Heritage centre at Gartan.
Derry
You can get here by taking the ferry from Rathmullan to Buncrana to Derry, or by road through Letterkenny.
Murals painted on gable walls were a vocal political expression during the recent period of history in Northern Ireland known as The Troubles. Today the murals are becoming tourist attractions. The People’s Gallery refers to twelve murals painted by three local artists, which interpret events during The Troubles in Derry.
The old walled city lies on the west bank of the River Foyle which is spanned by two road bridges and one footbridge. The city now covers both banks (Cityside on the west and Waterside on the east) and is the second largest city in the north. Great variety of pubs and nightlife, loads for the family also.
In 2013, Derry will become the designated uk city of Culture and the third bridge across the river Foyle has just been opened. It is a foot bridge and is called ‘The Peace Bridge’
