Toll Roads in Ireland – Conventional Toll Plazas and Eflow Barrier Free Tolling System on the M50
All Toll roads in Ireland, with exception of the M50 eflow Barrier free tolling system, are managed by means of conventional barrier operated toll plaza. There are 10 Toll Plaza's located around Ireland all of which the location and cost are outlined above. The cost at each Toll varies and it is advisable to check the website www.nra.iebefore your journey.
The M50 motorway is the main road to and from Dublin Airport and allows access to the rest of Ireland. In order to improve traffic flow and ease congestion, the National Roads Authority introduced “Barrier Free Tolling” on this route. This resulted in the removal of all pay booths on the M50 which means that drivers are unable to pay the toll as they drive through at a toll booth - instead you can pay by credit card by calling a locall number 1890 501050 or from the UK 0845 301 54050. You can stop at a shop/petrol station where it displays the "pay zone" or "toll" logo pay or you can pay on line at www.eflow.ie. It is important to remember that The toll must be paid within 24 hours or the cost will double, with fines for no payment applying thereafter. The cost per toll is €3.00 one way. Drivers have until 8pm the following day to pay the toll.
